Schizophrenia Awareness Week’s flagship event, the Bruce Woodcock Lecture will be held at BMW Edge at Federation Square.

With a history of presenting engrossing and inspiring speakers from around the world, the Woodcock Lecture has been a crowd favourite for the past nine years.

This year’s guest speaker is Associate Professor Patrick Corrigan of the University of Chicago, famous for his work in combating stigma and discrimination leveled against people with mental illness.

Corrigan will be looking at the idea of stigma in Australia - both how communities can work together to understand mental illness and its effects and also how people with a mental illness can engage positively with their local community and take an active role in reducing stigma.

Corrigan will be joined by local expert Tony Jorn and radio host Fran Kelly.

Entry is by gold coin donation and doors open at 5.45pm.
